The 6 August release brings together two months of work on the portal. One idea runs through all of it: software in a healthcare practice shouldn't need explaining. Not to a new colleague, not to a locum, and not to yourself on a busy Monday morning.
Onboarding without a colleague next to you
Training a new colleague takes time from exactly the people who are busiest. In a practice with locums, trainees or several locations, that happens more often than you'd think.
So the portal now has guided tours. On the home page, in the schedule, the task list and the task details, and in Talkwise Consult and Talkwise Telephony, a short tour walks you through what's on the screen and why. The Talkwise steps each have their own, shorter explanation.
The portal remembers which tours each user has finished. A finished tour doesn't come back. New users start automatically. Anyone who has worked with Plainwise for a while can start a tour from the profile menu.
The copy describes what a feature actually does, not what we call it internally. It's available in Dutch, English and German. And partners who manage practices get a tour of their own partner environment too.
A task view built for speed
The task details are where a practice assistant spends a large part of the day: open a task, call, complete, next. Every extra click and every scroll adds up.
The actions now sit in a fixed bar at the bottom of the screen, grouped into communication and status, and status actions like completing or cancelling ask you to confirm first. However long the task, the buttons stay in view.
The task history is more compact. Each event has its own icon, you see at most three by default, and identical events are merged. Expand the full history when you need it.
The window for editing a callback request has been reorganised too. Scheduling, contact details, call route and notes each have their own section, with shortcuts to move the callback time.
A portal that adapts to your practice
Not every practice uses every part of Plainwise. One works with callback requests, another with Talkwise or the digital assistantAgentwise, our AI assistant that answers the phone. It holds the conversation, asks follow-up questions and turns every request into a task for the team., and more and more combine them. The portal now takes that into account.
- Action items on the home page only cover products the practice uses.
- The dashboard only shows callback charts when the practice uses callback requests. No more wall of empty charts.
- A heads-up when the schedule runs out. The schedule determines when callbacks can be made. If the last availability falls within a week, an action item appears on the home page. You see it in good time, not once there are no callback slots left.
We also cleaned up our own jargon. Internally we talked about "flows". In the portal they're now called "categories", the word practices use themselves. The category picker in the schedule, tasks and callback requests is grouped, with one click to select a whole group. You can clear all filters in the task overview with one button.
Talkwise: every report checkable against its source
An AI report is only useful if you can check it quickly. With Talkwise, the clinician stays responsible for what goes into the record. So checking has to be fast.
That's why Talkwise Telephony now shows the report, the transcript and the audio in three tabs. Unsure about a sentence in the report? One click takes you to the transcript or the audio. Processing runs in a single window with clear steps. You can cancel it, and if something goes wrong, you can retry straight away.
In Talkwise Consult, the settings and the record button are on one screen. A sound wave responds to speech, so you can see the microphone is picking you up. Regenerate a report in one click.
The digital assistant: from feedback to a new version in just over two weeks
Our digital assistant answers the phone, asks the caller what they need and sets it up as a task in the portal. At a GP practice we're developing it with, the team gave us feedback in mid-July. By the end of July a new version was running there.
- A shorter conversation. Fewer questions, only what's needed to handle the request properly.
- Phone numbers digit by digit. The assistant reads out a number the way a person would, so the caller can check it.
- Cancelling a callback by phone. If someone calls to cancel a request, the assistant handles it.
- Less silence on the line. While the assistant looks something up or records it, you hear typing. On the phone, a few seconds of silence feels like a dropped call, and callers start to doubt.
- Asking again after silence. If the caller says nothing, the assistant asks once more.

The portal update has been live since 6 August. Curious what it means for your practice or your customers? Book a demo.
And since then
In September we followed up with a new voice and better Dutch speech recognition for the digital assistant. Read more in our September product update.
As always, your feedback shapes what we build. Use the feedback button in the portal or get in touch with your Plainwise contact. We read everything.
Every change, month by month, is in our changelog.
